The Take the HELM Competition is made possible by a grant from the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation (LMDC) and funded through Community Development Block Grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. LMDC was created in the aftermath of September 11, 2001 and is charged with ensuring Lower Manhattan recovers from the attacks and emerges even better than it was before. LMDC works in cooperation with its partners in the public and private sectors to coordinate long-term planning for the World Trade Center site and surrounding communities, while pursuing short-term initiatives to improve the quality of life in Lower Manhattan during the revitalization effort. |
